Happy Lunar New Year – welcoming in the energy of the Yin Wood Snake for 2025

Happy Lunar New Year! The yin wood Snake 2025
In the East the new year is celebrated at the first new moon of the year which is marked in the Chinese lunar new year calendar (consisting of 12 animals and 5 elements in a 60 year cycle which describe metaphorically how the energy changes each year).
Because this is based on the cycles of the moon, it is a moveable feast. This year it is celebrated on January 29th which marks the end of the year of the year of the Yang Wood Dragon and the beginning of the Yin Wood Snake year. The new year celebrations will continue until the full moon on the 12th of February.
On January 29th, with the first new moon of the year, the energy for 2024 recedes and the new energy of 2025 begins to burst into being.
We say goodbye to the wood dragon energy of 2024 which was yang wood and brought with it the full force of SPRING and the possibility to nurture the growth of our deepest dreams.
We invite in the energy of the wood snake which is yin wood and has a theme of introspection, intuition, re-evaluation and personal growth. This is a year when we are invited to develop a deeper connection to sprit/angel guides/protective influences and other worlds/realms.
The wood snake is enigmatic, admired for its unruffled appearance, unwavering principles and compassionate heart.
This year will be about hard work, deep inner work, calmness and introspection.
To welcome in the energy of the new year we pay particular attention to the following areas of our built spaces for 2025: The entrance and the Southeast sector
The entrance to your home/workspace-
Tidy up the entrance, clearing away any cobwebs, dead leaves or seasonal planting which has died back. Replace or clean up the door mat, ensure the lighting is working well and replace bulbs that are spent.
Put a few drops of orange essential oil into a basin warm water and mix thouroughly. Wash down the front door and step to ensure the energy is clean and clear.
The entrance is known as the Bright Hall or Ming Tang and “like the emperors carraige” should be kept pristine and gleaming to welcome in the most honoured guest – the new revitalised chi for this year.
The SE sector of your home/workspace:
The snake is associated with the south east and because this is also the bagua area associated with abundance.
Each year in 9 star ki the stars/energies “fly” to different sectors which influences the energy of both people and places over time. We go into the detail of all of this in our annual 9 star ki on demand class, when we look at our own personal energy for the year ahead and also feng shui changes to tweak the energy for the coming year.
For the South-east sector: We must begin by keeping this space fresh and clear in terms of its energy. Do some spring cleaning to revitalise the energy here after the winter months.
Undertake some intentional space clearing and open up the windows to allow fresh air into this part of your home (even for a short time). As you are doing so envisage that you are creating a fresh clear receptacle to accept in abundance and blessings for the year to come.
And so it is.
Happy New Year!
On Saturday February 1st I will be running our annual 9 star ki: new year, new beginnings class.
This class will be available on demand to view in your own time over the coming year.
We discuss these various systems in terms of the insight they offer us on the nature of the year ahead:
- The transition from the Yang wood dragon energy of 2024 to the Yin wood snake energy for 2025 and the transition in 9 star ki from 3 wood/thunder to 2 mother-earth energy
- We learn how to calculate our own 9 star ki, what each elemental number/star means and how this influences how we interact with each other and how we approach life on an individual level.
- The energy for this year (2 earth & yin wood snake) tells us that this is a very important year for connections and community. Understanding our own innate nature and how our energy is for this year is important in this context.
- Flying stars for 2025: We will look at the annual flying stars for this year (the house each of the 9 stars occupies for 2025).
- This has general information for us in terms of the “season” we are each in this year: In much the same way as we cycle through the seasons this 9 year cycle represents a cycle of creation (seed), gestation (sprouting), consolidation (bearing fruit), maturation (ripening), dissolution and dormancy (releasing the fruit and leaves and drawing the energy in and down into the roots) and then beginning all over again.
- This also has a deeply personal energetic impact based on the element of the house we will occupy this year and its relationship to our own elemental signature.
We delve into our Personal energetic interaction with the movement of chi this year
It is most important to understand how our energy is influenced as we enter each house in the context of how our personal element is impacted by the element of the house we will occupy this year.
Some elements are supportive, some can have the potential to feel stagnant, others are challenging etc. Being prepared for this and making adjustments accordingly is helpful here.
We go through feng shui changes to tweak the energy flow for 2025.
The annual movement of energy influences the Feng Shui of our built spaces and we can tweak the feng shui/dynamic balance of energy by making specific placements withing our home and workspaces to support ourselves through this time of transition.
You can sign up and take this class at any time throughout 2025
