Patience is a virtue

Trusting in Divine Timing – To everything there is a season.
Patience is a virtue
In feng shui we associate the energy of Spring with the essence of wood or tree energy and the I Ching symbol for thunder (Chen – the awakening). This symbolises the impatient essence of “teenager energy”. It has a sense of urgency, wanting to upset the status quo, make changes and forge ahead. But as we all know with hindsight, the exuberance of youth can lack the wisdom to understand that there is a Divine right-timing for change to happen with ease.
It’s interesting that we can have infinite patience with those we love, with small children and animals for example, but rarely with ourselves.
Springtime and the sowing of the seeds is a really great reminder to us that a seed planted today cannot be expected to flower tomorrow. Yet we can expect that kind of impossible progression of ourselves sometimes.
We plant seeds, carefully nurture them by watering them (just enough) and positioning them in the optimum spot for heat and light. We then wait….and watch for tiny shoots to pop their heads through, eventually thinning them out so that they have sufficient room to grow. Then we repeat watering, watching and waiting…. until eventually in their own divine time they flourish with delight.
A definite lesson there. Nothing worth waiting for appears overnight. Although the nature of Spring is associated with the impatience of youth, the wisdom of the ancestors reminds us that all good things come to those who wait.
There is a divine timing to everything. We cannot always be in the time of harvest. Our modern world has an obsession with instant gratification but this is not the natural order of things.
Feng shui reminds us that there is a natural seasonal and cyclical flow to all things. This applies to our lives also. In 9 star ki (feng shui/I Ching astrology) we all cycle through 9 houses/vibrational energies, changing each year over a cycle of 9 years. Eventually working our way through the “seasons” energetically. In one year our energy might be in Winter for example, this is our time to rest, reflect and re-evaluate our journey through life, in another we will be in our “Autumn” which is our time to harvest or reap the rewards of what we have planted and nurtured, and so on. This system offers great insight into the reasons why our energy feels quite different from one year to the next. Understanding this natural cyclical flow can be a game-changer in terms of learning to trust and go with the flow of our own evolution.
No matter what season of your life you find yourself in, be kind and patient and compassionate with yourself.
All in good time!
