Tui – Lake- Creativity

The bagua in feng shui design is an “energetic template” which we overlay onto the plans of our homes in order to tap into the direct connection between our outer world and our inner world. Each sector of the bagua connects to a different life area.
The area of TUI/lake is associated with with creativity, new beginnings and our intuition. This is the energy of the West and the setting sun and the season of Autumn. This is a settling, gathering and reflective energy which connects us to our inner selves and to those around us.
Elements, shapes, colours and energetics of TUI
The element which represents this inwardly focused energy is Metal. Think of cutting back and cutting out what is no longer necessary as we turn our focus inward for winter.
The shapes associated with this energy are round, oval, spherical, bowls; holding and containing energy. This is where we seek to connect to our feelings and to each other.
The colours of the metal element are white, grey, silver, gold and metallics.
The season is Autumn/harvest, reaping the rewards of what we have worked toward thus far, enjoying the fruits of our labour, reflecting on what we would like to change and celebrating ourselves and each other for how far we have come. This is the firm footing from which all new beginnings step out.
The nature of this energy of Lake/creativity is graceful, serene, reflective and convivial. The space we create to enjoy life with those around us, having fun, being silly and childlike, open to new possibilities.
The direction here West, toward the sunset. As we close the book on this years work we get to enjoy the colours of the setting sun, reflect on the beauty we have created around us and enjoy the company we have shared the journey with thus far.
The Sense connected here is our Intuition, our creativity; our ability to be inspired, creative, to be open to new beginnings.
Materials which inspire this energy physically for us will be tactile, luxurious, visually beautiful, beautiful scents, melodious music- the idea here is to stimulate all of our senses. Getting our creative juices flowing.
The essence of this energy is child-like, radiating joy, entertaining, enjoying the fruits of your labour.
Time to PLAY!
While we know that life is about work, rest and play, the play part is often forgotten, but this is where creativity and new beginnings are “drawn in“.
Connecting to the sacral chakra
This energy of creativity and sensory connection is ssociated with the sacral chakra, our centre for feeling and sensitivity, which connects us emotionally to others.
This is the centre where we feel compassion Vs numbness.
If this energy is out of balance in our lives we can feel immobilised, unable to move our feelings into action, stuck in a rut and lacking inspiration.
Connecting our inner and outer worlds
Take a look around this part of your home; does it feel inspiring, serene, playful, joyful? If not, what can you clear out to make space for inspiriation to flow. What can you add to inspire you to feel a greater sense of serenity, compassion for self, vitality and optimism for the future.
