Change is the only constant. Seeking balance as we navigate lifes many changes and transitions is key to our sense of balance.

In my own search to find inner and outer balance, I have explored many paths winding my way toward a stable centre. Centre is not a static space, in my experience. Like the centre of a wheel it offers a sense of dynamic balance. One that is constantly negotiating change and transition as we flow through the many seasons of our lives.

Through my study of complimentary therapies in my early career: reflexology, aromatherapy and touch for health, I have found that there are many paths that we can navigate which offer support and guidance along the way. Finding what resonates on a personal level, trying it on for size and exploring how it feels is the fun part of the journey.

Through years of both study and practise of feng shui, interior design, earth energy clearing, space clearing and healthy homes, I have explored the many aspects of our built environment and how they combine to support (or indeed stress) us on a physical, mental, emotional and even spritual level.

Feng shui astrology has offered deeper insight again. Offering insight into various cycles of energy which are interacting with us on a “celestial level”. We can observe a 60 year cycle which combines 12 animal signs or types of energy and 5 elements (changing qualities of that energy).

Or we can observe 9 star ki which is based on the 7 stars of the big dipper and vega and polaris and the study of how they move over time. This offers 81 combinations of the 5 elements and notes a 9 year cycle which, like the cycles of the seasons influences how we act and interact with one another. Each year over a cycle of 9 years we navigate our way through “the seasons” of life and our focus or momentum adjusts accordingly.

Looking around us we can see that everything in the natural world (including us) is in a constant state of “becoming” through a cycle of creation (the seed), gestation (sprouting), consolidation (bearing fruit), maturation (ripening), dissolution (releasing/letting go) and dormancy (resting).

We can try to skip ahead, but this will only mean we have missed a vital step in our growth and inevitably leads to a sense of incompletion, frustration or stagnation.

Finding our sense of place and our own inner balance as we navigate through these daily and monthly and yearly cycles of change is key.

In my book “A place to call home” I offer what I have found to be true in balancing the innate harmony and rhythmic, effortless flow through change we see in nature, with the energy of our built environment. I invite you to explore your sense of what “home” means to you, deepening your sense of connection to your home and workspace. In doing so, you ensure that your home (your outer skin) is a true reflection of who you are and is fully supportive of the life you are here to lead.

The beauty of the fact that “change is the only constant” is that now is always the time to begin.
