Spring – the awakening of new growth and vitality

SPRING

The “shoot” phase of the cycle of life, a time of new growth: wood/tree energy and the I ching symbol for thunder – the awakening.

WOOD/tree energy

Wood or more accurately tree energy, is associated with action, motivation, enthusiasm. “3 Tree/wood” is associated with the East and the rising promise of the dawn.

The very essence of Spring, this is the energy of FREEDOM which allows us to create our own mini revolution, breaking or bending the rules; allowing ourselves to “break free from our seed pod” and become more flexible.

Spring invites us to break free of any sense of “stuck-ness”  or restriction we have felt during the winter months we get to stretch out our limbs, like the delicate shoots appearing all around us.

GUIDANCE FOR THIS YEAR

This is a wood snake energy year and in a wood energy year we can feel quite triggered by injustice and inequality – think of “teenager” energy wanting to break free of the constraints of the establishment.

In keeping with this analogy of the Tree energy, we need to also do some grounding work, walking on the earth barefoot or doing some earth energy work will deeply connect us to our roots laying a solid foundation.

A tree can only grow in direct proportion to its ability to deepen and spread out its roots.

This is the time of year to set out our boundaries, stabilise our energy into this place at this time.

Time now to be present, awaken to the world around us and view it with fresh eyes.

THUNDER

The thunder aspect of Chen is related our first teachers in life and our parental influence; those who influence and guide us. This reminds us of the importance of our need for connection and belonging. All indiginous people recognised our need to be a part of a family/tribe/community as necessary for our very survival.

Being a part of a group is essential for our progression through life, we cannot do it alone. Social interaction is more important than ever at this moment in our development. Finding groups of like minded people to provide a supporive environment for  the delicate shoots of our new beginnings.

Awakening; this is the time of year associated with birth, growth and development.

The nature of chen/wood/thunder is agitation, sudden impulses, renewal, noisiness, liberation and revolution.

Are you feeling it’s call for change in your life?

Listen inward, steady your awareness in the present moment nurture the new shoots arising within you, be patient, allow them to fully form and then take guided action.
