Archetypal Mother earth energy KUN   is known as “The Receptive” in the I Ching.

This year represents an energetic transition from a time of  “winter” to a new beginning or “spring”. We can just about see in the distance that there may be a sense of light at the end of the tunnel.

Socially and financially this is a year of slow or little growth. This is the perfect time to start planning and figuring out the details of what we have been dreaming about in the past year; time now to get everything in order, ready for the arrival of a wellspring of new ideas and a cycle of new growth.

This year is  also a great time for clearing out the old, in preparation for the new. Inadequate planning and preparation during this phase can slow us down as we move into the new energy of next year.

We are in a time of transition

The Earth element is often considered a transitional phase between the stages of development. For example, it describes the phase between seasons when the weather could easily revert to the previous season for a few days and then suddenly to the next in an unpredictable way.

It is common to feel cautious, reserved and hesitant during an earth energy year and even lonely and isolated at times. This is exactly the time when we need to make an extra effort to reach out and connect with friends and family/ our tribe of like-minded people.

Be patient with yourself and others

It is also natural to feel a certain degree of stagnation in our energy during this time of transition. It is not considered an auspicious time for taking action. It is much better to be patient and to conserve our energy. It’s also a good idea to share our visions and ideas with others and to be receptive to their feedback.

Earth Energy reminds us of our strong connection with the land, which gives us our sense of belonging. Grounding our energy in this year, stabilising our roots will support our future growth and development. 

Spending time in Nature & cultivating kindness

In the northern hemisphere, we are enjoying the fullness of Spring. This is a time of year when we can enjoy gardening or nature walks and the like. Using our hands, be it in the kitchen nurturing ourselves with natural foods, tending the garden or simply enjoying connection to the earth by being in nature.

The overall energy of 2025 – with 2 (mother) EARTH as its central energy is KINDNESS– taking care of ourselves and others during this time of transition and change.

Keep a calm centre, lean in to the nurturing, stabilising energy of Mother Earth. Remembering and connecting to the dynamic balance of Mother Earth as she cycles through the seasons.

All is well, this too shall pass.
