Spring; the season of awakening and becoming

Spring has sprung and we are fully in the season of becoming.

Twice in the past 24 hours, I have been reminded of this quote from Lao Tzu-
“When I let go of what I am, I become what I might be”
It has definitely landed with me.
In the I ching the trigram associated with this time of year is Chen – thunder, the awakening, representing new begininnings, liberation and renewal.
This season invites us to question what we now need to let go of to fully step into the next season in our lives.
Letting go can be the challenging part. Even the most difficult situations have a familiarity to them that feels in some way safer than embracing change.
But if the butterfly does not let go of how it began its life as a caterpillar, it would never unfold into its fullest potential and fly. Somewhere deep in its being it felt that now was the time to change.
Time to meditate on it. Open up a little crack in the cocoon of what I am and peek out at the possibilities of what I might become…
Do you feel change calling?
