Exploring creativity with our inner child

Supporting our Creative Self Expression

Think of your best childhood memories around creativity. What did you love doing? Painting, dancing, singing, knitting/crochet, baking, photography, writing, story telling, making music?

Tap into that memory of how it felt to create something just for the fun of it. Feel that feeling in your body. That is the creative spark which will ignite your joy!

Now try to remember when creativity stopped being fun for you.

At some point most of us suppressed our natural creative expression,

generally because of comparison or due to a comment someone made judging your creative expression against that of another.

We know that “comparison is the thief of joy”.

Gifting yourself time to be creative.

In feng shui the energy of Creativity is associated with the Autumn. The time of year when we get to enjoy what we have worked for,
reaping the rewards, the hard work is done. This is a time to revel in the beauty of what we have created thus far.

A time to reflect on the past and plan for the future. It is also a time to clear out, making space for the possibility of new growth in the future.

The energy of this area represents a settled time, when the busy-ness of growth has slowed and we get to relax and enjoy the fruits of our labour.

Carve out some time for creativity this week. What would you love to do to connect with this energy?

Fragrant chi for creativity

An excellent place to start is by filling your space with beautiful aromatherapy oils which stimulate your sense of joy and fun.

One such oil is Orange (citrus sinensis) – Orange unblocks and circulates stagnant chi which can make us feel bogged down and lethargic in our energy. It also soothes the perfectionist in us – always an roadblock to creativity! It also has an emotionally uplifting component which is both calming and adds a fresh, happy note to the atmosphere.
