Tai chi balance, belonging and feeling at home

Tai Chi
The Tai chi at the centre of our homes represents balance and unifies all areas of our lives.
It is associated with the earth element which supports stability, groundedness, openness and nurturing harmonising energy.
Earth energy does allow for change, but at a slow and steady, manageable pace.
When we are feeling out of balance
If we are feeling “all at sea” or a “bit all over the place” the earth element which will offer us a greater sense of grounding; tethering us into a greater sense of place and belonging.
Our sense of belonging involves a deep inner connection between our inner and outer worlds. Connection to self and to source and to our “tribe” and our home is what gives our lives meaning.
Yin yang
The symbol associated with this a
rea of the bagua for our homes is the yin yang symbol, representing moving, dynamic balance. The yin within the yang and vice versa shows that everything, once it has reached its peak becomes its opposite. At the peak of summer (the summer solstice) we begin our journey again toward darkness. At the peak of winter (the winter solstice) we begin our journey again toward the light.
Almost everything will work again if you unplug it for a few minutes. Even you.

Life can be so busy and hectic for most of us, always being switched on and available through our phones, social media and emails. Taking time to remember to switch off all outside distractions and sit in peace and quiet, listening to our own inner wisdom will realign us to what is truly important and enriching in our lives.
Equally, when we feel stuck in the mud, stagnant, lacking in motivation we need to introduce a “pattern interrupt”. Taking time to come into stillness, listen inward and refocus our energy so that we can realign with what makes us feel energised, optimistic and motivated will reignite our joy in life.
The Tai chi is best represented with open space; space for possibilities and opportunities to drop in. It represents openness, like the open palm of a hand, ready to give and receive. Create some space at the centre – physically within your built space and metaphorically by making time for your-self.
Nurturing our sense of feeling at home
Tuning in to both our inner and outer worlds reflecting on our sense of connection and belonging is essential for balance.
Tapping in to the deep inner connection between our “selves” and the space we occupy at this time fulfils our primal need to “feel at home” safe, protected and nested.
